Weekend Coffee Share – Bittersweet

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been nearly two months since my last coffee share. A lot has happened, but not a lot at the same time.

So, let’s hop right on into it.

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d tell you to pull up a seat, pour yourself a cuppa and enjoy the not your campfire s’mores with bourbon spiked chocolate.

So, what have you been up to since the last time we met? I hope you’ve been winding down the summer months with lots of fun on the agenda.

I’ve been trying to get caught up on my reading, which is going rather slowly – like turtle slow. I’m packing, not packing, for my move back to Maryland. Anyway, I’m not only behind on my reading but reviewing the books I’ve read and packing. At last check, I was 17 books behind in my Goodreads Challenge and 13 books behind in reviews.

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d remind you that Banned Books Week is September 24-30, so make sure you celebrate and exercise your freedom to read and the 1st Amendment.

Can you believe that books are still being challenged and banned? I, personally, have a hard time wrapping my head around that. My parents never said I couldn’t read something. If they felt it was a bit mature, we would sit down and talk about it.

According to the Office for Intellectual Freedom (OIF), 323 books were challenged in 2016. That’s nearly a book a day. The top 10 books challenged in 2016 were challenged because there was an LGBTQ character, a transgender character or a sex scene. Click HERE to see the list.

What are your thoughts on books being banned in 2017?

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d tell you, I’ve been thinking about another revamp, not a major one but one that includes a vlog portion. I’d like to make the following regular features

  • Monthly Wrap-up
  • Monthly  TBR
  • Weekend Coffee Share

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d like you to tell me what you would like to see more or less of.

If we were having coffee. . .

I have been slowly but surely packing to move back to Maryland. It is now kind of down to the wire and I need to get my butt in gear, but not until after I get something to eat and take a nap (in no particular order). The moving company is coming to pick up my belongings on 29th of the month.

If we were having coffee. . .

Today was my last day working with some of the best people I have had the pleasure of working with. I miss them already and I haven’t even left yet to go back to Maryland yet. 😢

Well, thanks for joining me this week. I hope you enjoyed your cuppa, the s’mores and the conversation. I know I did and we’ll have to do it again soon.

And don’t forget to stop by Part-Time Monster blog to see what others are up to.
