Weekend Coffee Share 1.13.2018 ☕️

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! Come on in. It’s windy and the temperature is dropping. Oh how I enjoyed those couple of 60 degree days. But oh well, winter is back again.

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d tell you the last few days have been interesting. Mostly depressing, but I tell you a bit about that later.

I’ve been participating in the Bout of Books 21 read-a-thon. I said I was going to read 3 books in a week. It may seem like a lot, but it really isn’t. It averaged about 100 pages per day for the 7 days of the read-a-thon. But because of the week I’ve had didn’t really get there.

I did finish one book and got halfway through another. I had planned to use this weekend to get caught up, but I chose to do other things (i.e. go shopping). So, now that I have shopping out of my system, I can get back to reading.

Now, back to the depressing part of week. My father and I were going to head to Ohio to see his sister who is terminally ill and then bad weather hit so he cancelled the trip. So, we’re just waiting for the weather to break before heading out. Hopefully that will happen soon.

That very same day, in the morning, my best male friend called me and here was seriously drunk. I knew he had been going to AA meetings and had gone to rehab and I know falling off the proverbial wagon happens, but I didn’t expect what I got. I won’t get into a lot of detail about his mental and emotional state, but I will say it was bad enough that I told him to go and voluntarily check himself into a hospital psychiatric ward. Needless to say he wouldn’t, so I spent the better part of the morning talking to him.

Switching gears, I had my first flute lesson last week, Sunday and my homework assignment was to practice the ‘B’ note; which I did with due diligence and I have to admit that I think I have successfully conquered that note

And because I’m a bit of an overachiever (actually I got bored), I decided to go on to the ‘D’. Before I left Colorado I needed to get the pad replaced for the ‘D’, which I did once I got back to Maryland and for some reason the ‘D’ doesn’t sound right to mine ears. But at least I got the B.

I’m still trying to figure how/if I’m going to revive my personal blog and my short story blog hasn’t been updated in a while. I’ve written a few things this year, but I’m not particularly satisfied with them to put out to the public.

I’ve also been trying to come up with a blogging schedule. Here is a tentative one.

I have a lot of things I’d like to incorporate, but we shall see.

I would greatly appreciate if you let me what types of posts you like or don’t like and what you would like to see more or less of from me on this blog.

Thanks Cahleen! I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog. Sometimes getting outside feedback helps me to narrow down everything I have going on in my head. And I like to hear what other people like or don’t like.

Thanks Kathleen! It’s been hard dealing with both issues and not being able to get to either one. But for right now if talking helps then I happy to do that. Blogging every day is a lofty goal. I’ll be satisfied with 3 quality posts a week.

Sounds pretty tough. I hope you make it to Ohio. Where in Ohio does your dad’s sister live? It does sound a little funny practicing just one note, but I do understand. Each note has to be solid and in tune. Good luck it! Have a good week.

Thanks Trent, I hope to get there soon. A cousin of mine and my aunt’s best friend from childhood went and because of the weather ended up being stuck at the airport. My previous tutor didn’t have me do that, but different teachers different techniques. And by the way he said my B was spot on.

It does sound like a rough week. Hope th coming week sees things improve. As to your question, I enjoy these coffee time chats because it gives me a littl window into your world. I don’t care for the Friday or Wednesday topics sorry.

No need for apologies. I wouldn’t have asked the question if I didn’t want an honest opinion. Thanks for the feedback.
