The Friday 56 – Republic by Plato

The Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted over at Freda’s Voice. The rules are simple and go something like this.

Friday 561.  Grab a book, any book.
2.  Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that’s ok.)
3.  Find any sentence, (or a few, just don’t spoil it)
4.  Post it.
5.  Add the post url, not your blog url to the Linky.
6. Tweet it #Friday56 (not an official Freda’s Voice rule)

Last week I woke up with a crazy, and I do mean cray cray urge to read Plato. Really? Who has that kind of urge? So, I pulled out 1 of the 2 copies of Plato’s Republic that I own. Yes, I own two copies and I also own two copies of the Essential Dialogues of Plato. And, yes I’ve conclude that I am an über nerd. And, yes I embrace my nerdom just like I embrace a chocolate bar.

Without further adieu, here is my Friday 56. Enjoy!

And there is another class of servants, who are intellectually hardly on the level of companionship: still they have plenty of bodily strength for labor , which accordingly they sell, and are called. If I do not mistake, hirelings, “hire” being the name which is given to the price of their labor.

True.

Then hirelings will help to make up our population?

Yes.
