☕️Weekend Coffee Share☕️

Hello! Hello! Hello!

Come on in, grab a cuppa, a snack, and pull up a chair. I hope everyone had a great week! Let’s hop right on in to this week’s coffee share.

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d tell that say happy August! Can you believe it’s August? Where has the time gone? Earlier in the month life took over and I completely forgot to create and post a new Tsundoku Bingo board. Ceri over at Bookmarks and Postcards asked me about it and it was like oopsie. The new bingo board is up now and it goes from August to September. I’m working on the board for October/November/December now.

Thank you Ceri for the reminder!

If we were having coffee. . .

I’d tell you that I am so behind on my Goodreads reading challenge and blogging challenges, but I’ve come to terms with it and I’m okay with that. I mean after all reading and blogging is supposed to be fun and not a chore. Right?

Earlier this month I participated in Tome Topple. It’s two weeks (June 29th – July 12th) of reading books 500 pages and over. I read Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi (review here) and decided to take my time and really take it in. Oh my gosh! I absolutely loved it.

I was also a blogger host for the Biannual Bibliothon, which ran from July 14th – July 20th. My challenge day was July 17th and it was 6° of Separation with a Twist. It was a lot of fun. I have to admit I got a little wiped out towards the end. Trying to support other participants and do my own reading and working a rather wacky schedule.

Then the folks over at Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon had, for the first time ever, a Reverse readathon. What the heck is that? Do you read a book backwards? Kinda like playing the record backwards to hear the ‘creepy’ message. Well, it’s nothing like that, but hmmm; maybe that would have been interesting. Anyway, instead of starting 8 am Saturday and ending 8 am Sunday it started at 8 pm EST on Friday, July 27th and ended 24 hours later.

I didn’t get a lot of reading done because 1) I closed Friday night and didn’t get home until about 11:30 pm. I may have read for about an hour before crashing and 2) Saturday was my mom’s birthday. I did mange to get one book finished and halfway through another. That’s some progress to getting caught up with my Goodreads challenge.

Well, I’ve talked long enough. Thanks for stopping by and please let me know how your week has gone and what are some of your upcoming plans.

  1. I’ve never participated in a blogging Readathon before – I always feel like I won’t be able to get much reading done since I often work Saturdays and also have a kid who still wants to hang out with me, LOL. 🙂 But maybe one day in the future when he gets tired of me I’ll be able to participate. And yes – reading and blogging is supposed to be FUN! I have to remind myself of that too. No one is giving us a grade on this! Have a great week!

  2. I love the idea of a reverse read-a-thon! The start time for me normally is 6am, so I like the idea of starting at 6pm, getting in some reading, SLEEPING, then a full day of reading. I didn’t participate this time around since I was already read-a-thoning to the max, but hopefully they do it again. And yes, reading and blogging should be fun! I’ve been a reading maniac lately because I just want to read EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE so I end up reading a ridiculous amount of books at once, but it’s enjoyable right now – always make sure to take a step back when necessary! I love that Tsundoku board! I think I might print it off for the next few months. I always like some new way of challenging my reading and getting my TBR down.

  3. I didn’t get a lot of reading done for the 24 hour readathon either. I let myself get too distracted. 😛

Reading is definitely supposed to be fun, never a chore! I feel like book bloggers really put too much pressure on themselves with these challenges sometimes and forget that reading is supposed to help them relax.

    Yay! New Tsundoku board! 😀
