The Friday 56 – The [F]ault in Our Stars by John Green

The Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted over at Freda’s Voice. The rules are simple and go something like this.

Friday 561.  Grab a book, any book.
2.  Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that’s ok.)
3.  Find any sentence, (or a few, just don’t spoil it)

[A]pril TBR

Happy first day of April  and Happy Easter to those that celebrate.

Today is also the first day of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. I’m not sure what year this is for me, but I know I’ve participated in some form or fashion over the last 6 years; be it here or my creative writing blog, or my personal blog.

Anyway, I’m at it again this year. Right here and my creative writing blog, The Ink Slinger (although I haven’t slung much ink). And, without further adieu let’s jump into today’s post.

Some might call this cheating, but umm, I say it falls within the parameters of the challenge. Continue reading

The Official TBR Pile Challenge 2108

Is it to early to start planning ones 2018 TBR?

Yes and no. I have so many books that I need to knock off my TBR shelf that I considered making my 2018 reads books on my TBR.

I’ll be doing the Official TBR Pile Challenge and the Mount TBR Challenge. For the Mount TBR I’m going to start with the Pikes Peak level.

The Goal: To read 12 books that are on my TBR list. 12 books that I’ve been meaning to read for a year or more.

A Few Books on my Fall TBR Wish List

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday really didn’t light a fire under me. So, I thought I’d post some of the books I wish I had to read this Fall. But alas I’m trying to catch up. You can see my Fall TBR here.

  1. Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie
Although Home Fire didn’t make it to the Man Booker Prize short list it’s on the long list with a host of other spectacular authors. I’ve seen mixed reviews on this and it’s either people love it or hate it.The suspenseful and heartbreaking story of an immigrant family driven to pit love against loyalty, with devastating consequences.

Two families’ fates are inextricably, devastatingly entwined, in this searing novel that asks: What sacrifices will we make in the name of love? Continue reading

October TBR & 30-Day Reading Challenge

I am seriously behind in my reading challenges. According to Goodreads I’m 17 books behind my goal of 43. I know I’m not going to mak that goal, but I’m going to give it the ole college try; and get halfway through the 43, which is about 22 books.

I’ve decided to add a monthly TBR to my blog and a quarterly 30-day reading challenge.  I think it may help me stay on track. Continue reading
